Welcome to Dalmuir Homestead, a spacious and gracious 1930s property, that oozes olde world charm and delightful quirky touches.  Dalmuir will remind you of a simpler time, when home comforts and charm with family was what a holiday was all about.  This lovely fuss free timber home is welcoming from the moment you step inside, whilst from the front wrap round verandah, you can enjoy gorgeous vistas of the sand and sparkling water of Dromana Beach just beyond.

If excellent beach location is your no.1 want when planning your beach escape, then Dalmuir definitely ticks the box.  The street is off Point Nepean Rd and the house is only a 50m stroll before you're on the sand of Dromana beach.  Early morning beach dips or evening strolls in search of icecream up the street, are all easy options when the beach and Dromana shops are so easily reached.  Bonus is the large park across the road with plenty of gas BBQs and a kids playground.

Dalmuir offers 3 bedrooms in the main house, 1 x queen + 1 x single, 1 x queen + 2 x singles, and 1 x queen.  It accommodates up to 8 people.  The main kitchen/lounge/dining area has vaulted ceilings and an airy feel with ample room for everyone to find a spot, sit back and relax.  The lounge has big comfy couches and armchairs as well as with a TV and DVD player.  Loads of books and board games plus children's toys are available to keep everyone entertained on those quieter days.  Lovely period pieces add to the feeling of a bygone era.  Open the lounge doors to the outdoor verandah, and let the sunshine and sea air in.

The wide front timber verandah, has lots of seating, be it around the outdoor table or one of the cushioned wicker chairs.  Sit outside with a good book and a pot of tea and while away the day in perfect tranquility.

The much loved kitchen is of its era but has all the basic amenities and cooking gear for easy meal time preparation.  Sit around grandma's table and indulge in mealtime conversation with your nearest and dearest or maybe a board game late into the night.  Other welcomed amenities located in the main lounge, are a split system, gas heater and ceiling fan.

The property also offers a separate bungalow out the back with 1 x double + 1 x single bunks + 1 x single bed, so another 5 can sleep here.  The bungalow would suit teenagers who  want their own space.  Guests can use the small kitchenette and table as well.  The bungalow is available for an additional fee but please note, unlike the main house beds, NO linen is not provided for bungalow beds. Please ask about this when making your enquiry.  Please  note the bungalow may be used by other guests during your stay.

Dalmuir has a large grassed back yard and is perfect for kids to run around in, or for a game of cricket.  But if lazy days at the beach is your thing, then Dalmuir offers unparalleled access.  Oh and a cute beach box equipped with some fun beach toys, chairs and beach umbrella is also available to rent.  You can store your own beach gear in there for the duration of your stay.

Please note Dalmuir Homestead is a registered Short Stay Accommodation property and all guests are required to abide by with Mornington Peninsula Shire Short Stay Accommodation Code of Conduct. Details of the Code will be made available to guests after booking and a copy is available at the house.

Good House Holiday Rentals also offer Peninsula Hot Springs Priority Bath House Passes for Dalmuir Homestead guests. Aside from Priority passes, Good House Stay and Bathe Packages include compliment use of Spa Bathrobes and Spa Towels. All details of Good House Stay and Bathe Packages are available here. Packages are easily added to accommodation bookings at checkout.

What you see is what you get, and Dalmuir remains deliberately untouched and is definitely not a cookie cutter property.  Yes some wallpaper is peeling, some paint has faded, but this doesn't detract from the gorgeousness of Dalmuir Homestead.  It is steeped in family history and generations have enjoyed the pleasure it offers.

Dalmuir is now available for you to make your own treasured memories.

If you love Dalmuir Homestead, but it is unavailable for your dates, please take a look at other Good House properties.

Or please make contact and we will do our best to accommodate you in an alternative property.

We had a fantastic Easter at this rustic Australian beach retreat

We had a fantastic Easter at this rustic Australian beach retreat with views of the ocean and a park with Kakadus and playground directly opposite. The beach is literally 2 minute walk away and one can sit on the deck with amazing ocean views. The two main bedrooms are spacious, kids bedroom is cozy with one double and two single beds. Everything was clean and neatly arranged for our stay. Not all cupboards/wardrobes were available for guest clothing. Big kitchen with fridge/freezer/ stove/toaster/ plenty of cutlery/ crockery however no dishwasher. separate dining area and big lounge with plenty of couches/ chairs for kicking back in afternoons/evenings. television with DVD/Blue Ray device and multiple +++ Movies to chose from. As accurately described in ad- the house is an old Australian beach house with lots of character- so bathroom is quite old without bathtub and one should not expect a poshly renovated house. However it was beautiful, spacious, clean, cozy, close+++ to beach with amazing outside areas. Truly enjoyed our short trip!

A home away from home

My extended family celebrated an early Christmas at the homestead and it felt like the house appreciated the love and laughter that filled the large rooms and veranda. My father-in-law from NZ challenged his grandsons to table tennis and the large circle of chairs in the lounge room provided opportunities to talk and share stories and presents. Dalmuir Homestead was the perfect location for a summer holiday being so close to the beach. The boat shed was in a lovely location shaded by banksias and the sea is clear and inviting. There were lots of opportunities to walk along the beach or to the shops and the playground across the road kept the younger ones amused. Dalmuir Homestead is the perfect place to stay and reminisce of days gone by with its retro style furnishing yet functional layout and comfortable places to relax.

Oh Carol..Thank you so much for your lovely review. We are so glad you had a wonderful family holiday together and we look forward to hosting you again. Take care.

This house was immaculately

This house was immaculately clean and had very good directions inside about how to operate everything. It had ample supplies for us and I could tell it was well managed and planned specifically for people traveling. I didn’t even need to buy laundry soap which usually is the case. Excellent communication and safe and easy check in. Love the key code door that made me feel more safe and not having to keep track of keys. It was so well organized we sought out other homes managed by Good House also because we knew the quality would likely match.

We were a family of seven on holiday from Melbourne. Loretta made us very welcome via telephone communication and we enjoyed a spacious home with many extras. The house was well prepared and the close proximity to the sea and beaches made it perfect for the kids. The garden is a pleasure and there is a big park with kids games right outside the front door.
